Week 3: Lesson 1
Focus on Qur'an and Tafseer
Ramadan is the best month to focus on worship, reading the Holy Qur’an in its entirety, translating and seeking tadabbur, which means reflecting and analyzing the text. The Holy Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) in Arabic to make it comprehensible for the people of Makkah (the Prophet’s birthplace and a deeply spiritual destination for Muslims around the world).
This Ramadan guide offers a comprehensive overview of the holy month, covering its spiritual significance, virtues, and essential practices. It includes insights on fasting, prayer, Quran recitation, charity, and recommended Sunnah acts.
Practical advice on nutrition, health, and daily worship ensures a well-rounded approach to Ramadan. The guide also explores key rulings on fasting, including special cases like illness, pregnancy, and menstruation. With sections on Laylatul Qadr, I'tikaf, and Eid preparations, this resource helps Muslims maximize their spiritual growth.
The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم would listen to, ponder over, recite, and study the Quran with Jibril AS in the blessed month of Ramadan. The month of Ramadan is a time in which we should all examine our relationship with the Quran. We should ask ourselves how often do we read the Quran? How often do we reflect upon its verses? How much do we follow its teachings? When asked about the Prophet’s صلى الله عليه وسلم character, Aishah RA replied that his character was the Quran.
It is important to recite the Quran as much as possible in order to attain the bounteous virtues for this simple act. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah, he will have a reward. And that reward will be multiplied by ten. I am not saying that "Alif, Laam, Meem" is a letter, rather I am saying that "Alif" is a letter, "Lam" is a letter, and "Mim" is a letter." - Tirmidhi
