Family and Community

Family time, community engagement, and strengthening bonds are integral for Muslims throughout the year but especially during Ramadan. Children’s experiences of Ramadan inform their memories and feelings they will associate with this month for the rest of their lives.

  • Attend Jummah (Friday) prayer or an interesting lecture or event at your local mosque this month.

  • Here are 10 things you can do to make this Ramadan more spiritual and meaningful.

  • An easy way to show care for your family is to prepare suhoor (pre-dawn meal) and iftaar (sunset meal) for them. Palestinian-American chef Nadia Gilbert can show you how to prepare something deliciously Palestinian via Youtube!

  • PDM members have crafted this directory to help you boycott with ease and support Palestinian businesses: LINK

  • Enjoy cooking a Palestinian dish for iftar by choosing one of the many recipes to share with family and/or friends!

  • A lovely way to prepare for the last 10 days of Ramadan and Laylat ul Qadr snack bags (filled with healthy nuts, dried fruits, and sweet treats). These snack bags can keep energy up during long nights of learning, prayer, and reflection.
