PDM’s Public Statement on Gaza Ceasefire

Gaza’s joy is our joy, even amidst the incomprehensible barbarity of the Zionist regime. We are relieved at even a moment of relief and share in their happiness. Yet, we remain cautious, vigilant, and unwavering. Our fight for Palestine does not begin or end with this ceasefire. We are reminded that before this genocide began, we stood firm in our commitment to justice. And long after the world declares this genocide over, we will remain steadfast. Our goal is not mere peace, but justice. Our aim is not temporary ceasefires, but total liberation. Victory is not found in negotiations orchestrated by imperial powers. Victory is with Allah, the Most High, and His divine promise: “Indeed, the promise of your Lord is truthful” (Quran 11:119). These words anchor us. These words guide us. These words give us hope.

Let us not forget that the genocide of Gaza was not halted out of kindness. It was halted because of the unrelenting resistance of the Palestinian people and their unwavering defiance. Remember, in 2023, Netanyahu declared resistance would not remain in Gaza. Yet today, in 2025, his vile and tyrannical administration is in ruins. This will go down in history as an asymmetric war of the most marginalized, impoverished fighters in the world resisting the might of two nuclear superpowers. Against all odds, with the will of Allah, the Palestinians endured. When the Zionist occupation sought to annihilate them, the people of Gaza answered with defiance. For 15 months, Gaza was subjected to what can only be described as a modern-day holocaust. A reality where life was stripped away—no food, no water, no medicine, no electricity, no safety—only bombs and bullets. Yet, Gaza did not break. The people did not abandon their land, their faith, or their cause. This ceasefire is not the end. It is a moment of relief for Gaza. For the rest of us, the fight continues. Nothing changes for those of us outside Gaza who remain obligated to dismantle Zionism and continue towards a free Palestine. There are no pauses, no breaks, no rest until every inch of Palestine is liberated—from Gaza to Al-Quds, from Khan Younis to Haifa, from Rafah to Jenin.

We will not be lulled by promises of peace from the same Western powers who enabled this genocide. Our trust is in Allah alone, and we remain committed to principled advocacy for total liberation. PDM recommits itself to this cause with renewed vigor. We will not stop. We will not rest until every inch of Palestine is free and we call upon you to recommit as well. Together, with faith in Allah’s promise, we will prove ourselves worthy of liberation. As we rejoice in the smiles of the people of Gaza, we remember their heartbreak, their loss, and their resilience. Together, we stand as one Ummah. Gaza’s victory is ours, and their freedom is intertwined with the freedom of every muslim. May every oppressor fall, and may justice prevail for all our people. Ameen.

As we wait with cautious hope for Sunday, let us not forget that the occupation has a history of intensifying its aggression in the moments before a ceasefire. We remain vigilant and will continue to monitor how events unfold in the coming days, with a follow-up statement to come soon.
