Gaza's True Death Toll
The constant media-propagated lie which paints nearly every civilian building in Gaza, from schools to hospitals, as 'run by terrorists' is reminiscent of the American lie of 'weapons of mass destruction' used in Iraq to justify the murder of almost two million people. The true scale of destruction in Gaza is heavily underreported because of challenges of recovering bodies from the rubble due to the lack of adequate machinery.
This situation means that the ‘official’ death tolls fail to reflect those who are still missing, whose fates remain unknown in the chaos. Despite these significant obstacles, the Gaza Ministry of Health remains committed to accurate reporting, only confirming deaths when a body is recovered.
Another concerning trend in media coverage is the framing of casualty statistics as "women and children," which intentionally sidelines Palestinian men as victims of a genocide. Zionist propaganda deliberately twists the murder of Palestinian men into a false narrative—that they are all ‘combatants’ rather than innocent civilians. This tricks the average news consumer into seeing their murder as justified, rather than as war crimes. The aim of the Zionist entity has always been to destroy Palestinian land and life and its people at large. Dehumanizing Palestinian men serves this purpose, erasing the fact that they are fathers, sons, and workers whose lives and families have been torn apart Zionists justify this mass murder by labeling every Palestinian man they kill as a ‘terrorist’ in need of ‘extermination’- which we know is a lie.
They even claim the IOF is victorious in their efforts to dismantle the resistance, yet despite their brutality and genocide, the Palestinian people remain on their land, resisting. The Ministry of Health mortality reporting has done its best to stay up-to-date, however, has underreported the actual death toll due to the limited capacity to keep pace with the ongoing speed of the genocide. There are also individuals whose bodies have not been recovered from under the rubble.
While the count from Gaza’s Ministry of Health, as of Jan 2025, was 62,000 Palestinians murdered, the estimates from world organization is much higher than that. The Lancet journal estimated that 186,000 or more Palestinians have been murdered-- and that report was in June 2024. The genocide continued and the violence on Gaza increased since then. The estimates could be over 600,000 Palestinians martyred. Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittah, a world-renowned British Palestinian doctor who volunteered in Gaza, confirms that between 10-12% of Gaza’s population has been killed – an estimate of over 300,000 people. He also clarifies that the 45,000 count from the Ministry of Health does not account for those still under the rubble nor those that were confirmed dead somewhere other than a Ministry of Health hospital. Over 2 million Palestinians in Gaza have been forcibly and brutally displaced since the beginning of the Zionist genocide in october of 2023.
Within the first three months, an estimated 17,000 to 18,000 children had lost one or both of their parents, and UN Women estimated that two mothers were being killed every hour in Gaza.
As of Jan 2025, conservative estimates indicate that over 1,057 healthcare workers have been killed and all of Gaza’s 36 hospitals have been damaged.
In an article published by Brown University, by November 2023, over 450,000 children’s homes were destroyed. The genocide continued for over a year after that count and doesn’t show the true devastation in Gaza at the hands of the violent occupation.
Amnesty International has observed 3 violations to the UN’s genocide Convention including: killing members of the group, causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group, and deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in the whole or in part.
There are direct and indirect deaths due to the genocide. Direct deaths are related to bombardments by the occupation and indirect deaths include the effects of a collapsed healthcare system, increased malnutrition, disease, maternal and newborn complications, and injuries. The Lancet estimates the number of indirect deaths to be three to fifteen times greater than the amount of direct deaths.
The scale of suffering in Gaza is beyond our comprehension, but the resilience of its people is incredible. This genocide, built on lies and fueled by dehumanization, aims to erase an entire people—but it has failed. Despite the occupation’s brutality, despite the world’s silence, Palestine remains. Truth remains. And justice will prevail.
